Chef of the Month - March 2020

Chefs of Chef Works is a dedication to our extensive network of local and international Chefs, who share their culinary journeys with us, by providing first-hand insight into the exciting world of hospitality.

We talk to Chef Patron Lucienne Martin from Tal-Villagg Cafe and Wine Lounge. 


From when it all started? It started 4 years ago when me and my husband Johan Martin opened Tal-Villagg in Hal-Lija. Before that I am a housewife, therefore the kitchen is my workstation. 

Who was your greatest cooking inspiration? It was always about family. I always remember my mother in the kitchen cooking for us, me helping her. Getting my hands dirty with flour doing cakes and dough.  Those were the happy days!

What is your favorite cooking dish? Apart from cooking I really enjoy doing desserts, so yes sweets.

What do you enjoy doing most when you’re outside the kitchen? Spending my time with my family and travel.

Who would you most like to cook for? Definitely, my clients, are my  VIPs.

Any awards? I have started quite recent in the catering business so until now none, only the smiles in our customer's faces when they are asked if the food was fine.

What is your favorite Chef Works Item? Apart from the kitchen gears, I'm in love with the Finesse 3/4 fitted shirts.  They are very comfortable to work with during my shift.

Your biggest achievement? As a mother and wife defo my family and succeeding in the opening of our Restaurant. 

Your best culinary tip?  Using the freshest and best quality ingredients combined with passion, for me, this is was cooking is all about.
